Next Train

I am a software developer and have been doing web development, UI and back end, for several years. I have decided to leverage my software knowlege (e.g. Java) to specialize in Android apps. This is my first. Although I am a somewhat serious person, I would like my icon to be whimsical, in the style of other Android icons.

My target audience is commuters on the Metro North Railroad (possibly other railroads to come).

The Next Train app has a simple goal: to tell a commuter when the next 3 trains to their destination will leave. So let's say someone is in a taxi going to Grand Central station. They can launch this app and instantly see the times of their next 3 trains. They can click on one of those times to send a message to a person of their choice, asking that person to pick them up at their destination.
The train transportation icons that I have seen show a train either head-on or sideways. I would like to stay away from that image if possible -- if not, sideways would be better. I would prefer to go in the direction of something like train tracks. I am open to other ideas.
The icon should not be entirely blue -- that is the color of a competitor.
Android icons come in packs of 3: 36x36, 48x48, and 72x72, so that is what I need.
