We're a team of teachers and professors at Syracuse University creating an iPhone application called iAdvocate. This application draws on content and materials developed at Syracuse University to support parent advocacy and parental involvement in the educational process. This is an initial phase of a comprehensive technology research development program to develop mobile and web-based applications to support parents and students in k12 and higher ed environments.
We want to get a usable tool out into the hands of parents.
It's also a great publicity tool (Headline: SU's School of Education develops iPhone Application to Support Parents)
We're targeting parents who have kids that have special educational needs... Our iPhone app willd provide parents of children with disabilities with information, resources, expertise, and support necessary to promote meaningful involvement in their children’s education.
The App will be promoted on the Syracuse University website, and through press releases.
iAdvocate will support parents' participation in the IEP process (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indivi…on_Program)
