We need a new icon for our app TransitHopper. The app tells you the next departures of public transport services from your current location to your favorite destinations.
The main feature is a widget in the iPhone's today view where you can see services departing from your current location by swiping down from the top of the screen. In addition, we will soon add an app for the Apple Watch.
Please see the screenshots attached to this design brief on what the iPhone widget and the WatchKit app look like.
We are looking for an icon that works for both the iPhone app (rectangular shape) as well as the Watch app (round shape). The two versions of the icon don't have to be exactly the same, but should be recognizably similar. See below for links to Apple's Design Guides.
Because the icons on the Apple Watch are very small, the outline of the icon's foreground must be very easy to recognize.
Even though it's an app about public transport, the icon doesn't necessarily need to be a bus or train (but that might help to make it understood what the app is about).
The icon should be friendly and memorable (in contrast to most icons from available transport apps). A hopping rabbit or kangaroo is not out of the question if you can simplify the shape to be easily recognizable.
I'd very much like the icon to be related to the name TransitHopper, as in "hop on the bus". The focus here is on the departure and boarding the bus/train/metro.
