We are computer programmers that like our craft so much that we attend regular meetings to discuss and learn about our profession.
Our user group meets one evening per month in downtown Chicago.

Our members and the other programmers that we would like to reach are the kind of programmers that are never content with just the status quo. We are always on the lookout for better ways to get things done, be it better practices, better tools, better attitudes.
The majority of our members are highly regarded in their own teams and their colleagues look up to them for advice because they have the reputation of always being up to date and seeking self-improvement.
I'm not trying to say we think we are special or the cream of the crop, just that we share the desire to get better and we actively pursue that goal.
There are other .NET user groups in the Chicago are but we call ourselves "Alternative" because, differently from the other groups, our focus is on technologies that are not originated at Microsoft. We are not against Microsoft but we like to give non-Microsoft .Net technologies their deserved attention.
You can learn about ALT.NET in general at http://altdotnet.org/ and http://altnetpedia.com/.
Our current website is at http://chicagoalt.net (notice the lack of a logo :) )
The logo should look good in the existing website (http://chicagoalt.net) color scheme, which is mostly shades of red, but I'm not saying the logo needs to be just red/black/white, I'll leave that to your good taste and talent.
Logo size for the page will be 250x100 pixels. I'm not familiar with what kind of deliverable I'll receive but I'm hoping I can create much bigger sizes of that logo that don't look pixelated for printing on physical media too.
The logo should also work well in black and white print for other media such as flyers, tshirts, banners, etc.
The logo needs to have the words "Chicago ALT.NET" (no quotes) in it.
There's a popular logo for ALT.NET, shown at http://ayende.com/Blog/archive/2008…-Logo.aspx but I'd rather not base our logo on that one.
Well, maybe a brief hint with the scissors, or maybe not. Again, your good taste is what I'm counting on.
