We are a software services firm that provides liquid and smoke simulators and renderers to both the VFX and the video game market.
Our current website design, which we will be keeping (unlike the logo) can be found here:
We've been getting emails since our new website when live last week from our customers telling us that our new logo hurts their eyes, see the green/yellow brain logo here:
We are simulation experts. We write very mathematically complex code that achieves high end effects for movies and video games. Our strength is our intelligence and our ability to leverage computer power to allow artists to achieve their vision.
Our target audience is graphic designers, 3D artists, and video game developers.
Like most other business, we want to portray a professional look and feel. Graphic quality is important as our target audience are artists and they know bad art when they see it.
Our older logo is available online here, it is the grey 3D spiral/know logo underneath the "Exocortex Technologies, Inc" title :
Our company name reflects the idea of a brain connected to a computer, which admittedly is pretty nerdy and hard to reflect in a logo. We don't need the logo to reflect the meaning of our company's name if that isn't possible.
We are looking for something relatively simple but interesting. It could riff on either the brain, or it could be a new artistic abstract logo that just looks interesting.
We had one artist draft up a logo, but he wasn't able achieve a truly clean and elegant look in our opinion:
We also have this very very simple draft logo, but this logo doesn't have anything unique about it, its just a brain (although this might be a template that one could use stylistically):
We would prefer that the new logo doesn't have too many colors in it, because that can make it harder to reuse in different contexts, although we are open to anything that looks good.
For an example of an simple logo that I liked, but we can't use as it belongs to another company, check this out:
These are also nice:
