Bright Lights Dancewear
My wife and I own a high energy dance studio that focuses on a range of styles, including jazz, hip hop, ballet, tap and musical theatre. We are continuing to grow and are opening a dance retail store. We also plan to start designing some of our own dance clothes and want our retail store name to be our private label clothing brand.
Dancers, mostly aged 2-18 years old, although we have some adults aged 20-35 years old. We will be selling to our existing students who recognize our studio's brand/logo, as well as to dancers who attend other studios throughout the city.
We want a logo that is strong, 'clean' and easy to read. We want it to feel related to the logo for our studio, use the same fonts, etc. I've included a jpg of our studio logo.
We want the logo to be primarily black and white, although we think a touch of color would be nice. For reference, we used a touch of color on the images on our studio website http://www.DanceXplosionAustin.com.
We want the logo to be on 2 lines so it's not too long horizontally, with "Bright Lights" on the first line and "Dancewear" on the second line.
The strongest idea we've come up with is to use the same font for "Dancewear" as we use for "Dance" in our studio name (Mistral font) so that they relate to each other. Then, we would use the same block letter for "BRIGHT LIGHTS" as we did for "XPLOSION". We want to evoke a NYC feel so the idea is to have a few of NYC's most recognizable buildings behind the words, with the slivers of windows lit up yellow (yellow would be the only color used in the logo). The logo will be used on clothing and on clothing tags, so it can't be so busy with lines and intricate details that get lost when it's small. I don't know if 3 or 4 buildings would look best.
I've uploaded a rough draft of the possible logo.
