BooksOnPurpose's mission is to transform the experience of reading for children by getting positive titles into the hands of school kids, thereby ensuring that they are properly equipped with powerful life and success skills starting at a young age (Grades 6-12). One of our goals is to play a valuable role in successfully getting an E-Reader into the hands of every student in America. We host fundraising programs, where students are encouraged to gather as many unused books as possible from their homes, families and communities. These books are then resold and the profits are used to purchase E-Readers for the school.
We also impact the community by partnering with charities and fundraising organizations. We help them host 'book donation drives' which is intended to raise money for said charities through the resale of these books.
We know that traditionally, reading is not considered to be the most exciting part of a child's day. With the relentless distraction of television and the internet, reading needs to be something that captivates its audience at a young age. Currently within the school system, the selection of required reading, we feel, is outdated, presented in an inapplicable manner, and mundane. We believe that with titles that stimulate creativity, encourage growth, and challenge the reader, we can directly change the experience of reading starting with our youngest generation. If we can help students realize the power that can be accessed through reading, they would be excited to read. The nightly assigned reading would no longer be a boring and resentful "task". Reading would now be, (as best put by a 2nd Grade boy who loves to read), "T.V. in your head".
We plan to expose and promote our Movement through Social Media. We will connect and network with others in our community that are passionate about this cause. Creating raving fans and raving leaders is our #1 goal. The logo should we designed so that it is memorable and can easily be recognized.
