Republic aims to achieve a better democracy for Britain.
Republic is British a membership-based pressure group calling for an elected head of state and for the adoption of a new, democratic, republican constitution.
Republic sees democracy as the rule of the people, they believe all people have the right to govern themselves, and that all those who govern us should have a democratic mandate to do so (in other words, they should be chosen by the people).
Republic’s campaign is supported by ordinary hard working people from all corners of the country and from all walks of life. We are united in a belief in responsibility, aspiration and, above all, democracy.
Republic's diverse membership represents the full social and political spectrum. Republic is bound together by a few simple principles and a single ambition: a republican constitution, the right to a democratic head of state and an end to the monarchy.
Republic believes our democracy should inspire a common sense of "we the people" - together we should own, control and take responsibility for our political affairs. Republic believes Britain deserves a republican constitution in place of the monarchy because the British people deserve the very best democracy possible.
Republic’s target audience is the general public in Britain, politicians and the media.
Republic lobbies politicians and opinion-formers, conducts a pro-active media campaign, undertakes original research on the monarchy, comments on royal stories in the media, conducts talks and classes in schools and universities and provides information on republicanism
The campaign also does extensive e-campaigning.
Target audiences include online and offline supporters and opinion formers.
We need a logo that can represent Republic's aspirational case for democratic reform. The key word here is ‘democracy’.
** The logo must incorporate an image and the word Republic or just the word Republic done in a particular style, but if doing an image plus the word then both must also work separately.
* We will need the design to work as full colour/greyscale/black and white.
* We will need the logo to work on plain backgrounds
* The logo is for online, print and on t-shirts and merchandise (including as a pin badge)
* The logo should be produced in vector format
The following are things we DON’T want:
Crowns or royal images
Flags or overtly ‘British’ imagery
FONTS: We want fonts with gravitas, but not too traditional looking, possibly something unique
Please remember, Republic is not a trading company, it is a cause and a belief, a movement for democracy. It is a grassroots campaign and the logo should reflect that, or at least not have a ‘corporate’ feel to it.
Core themes of the campaign are: aspiration, responsibility and the desire to achieve the best for our country.
