Descripción general

The Safe at Home Security Guide is a new web site and podcast that will present home security tips and information for urban and suburban residents. Information will be presented from the perspective of someone who has "lived" the need to improve their own security--someone who was a home theft victim, has learned and continues to learn about the topic and wants to share that knowledge with the audience.

The focus will be on sharing practical information: tips, product and service reviews, how-to materials and so on in order to help the audience feel safe at home.

I'm someone who looked at and rejected the typical alarm system approach. I don't want to feel like a prisoner in my own home. I don't want to deal with the hassle or expense most systems involve.

Young urban and suburban professionals in their 20s or 30s who want to feel safe & secure in their home (or apartment or condo) but don't want expensive, confusing or annoying alarm systems.

They could be "do it yourself-ers" or others just looking for practical, low-hassle and cost-efficient steps they can take.

They may not know much about the topic of home security but do know it's something they should be concerned about, as long as it doesn't take too much of their time.

They are unlikely to turn to alarm system solutions. They are also likely to be turned off by the oft-used alarm system marketing tactic of scaring potential customers into signing up.

They want a better solution.

Requisitos

The logo will be used in a web site header and as a podcast logo. Slightly different versions to accommodate this may be required.

In web site version, a tagline will be paired with the logo to construct the header. I'll likely tweak the tagline over time, so I won't include it in the logo. I prefer a horizontal orientation over vertical.

In the podcast version, the logo must be attractive & identifiable at 600x600px (e.g., intricate detail too easily lost should be avoided).

I'm open to color schemes. As a starting point, I'm considering a site design with one or two shades of blue, a rich medium green and probably another color, such as a medium-dark gray or brown. You don't have to use all these, it's just what I'm thinking today.

As the brand name is a bit long, will appreciate attempts to make it seem shorter as well as perhaps incorporating the play on words ("safe at home" & "home security guide").

By "security", I want to give a sense of peace, comfort and feeling secure, even a human touch, not of being behind fortress walls or a "prisoner" in one's own home. So no padlocks, chains or similar imagery.

Any use of a stylized house (such as cradled in hands) should not appear too rural as I'm going after an audience more urban than not.

Dignified but with a "web 2.0" feel is OK, cartoonlike is not.

Will want Illustrator and uncompressed JPEG (or PNG) delivered.
