PulseSlider / pulse slider
PulseSlider is a new website that acts like a game where you interact with the news, (e.g. the hottest celebrity gossip, current sports controversies, politics etc.) and win prizes based on games you play with other users. Some aspects of the site will be similar to fark.com or http://www.news.google.com, but the site will include an interactive game that will be engaging and social.
The primary demographic will be 18-30 yr old both male and female, but the logo should be something that should be inviting to any demographic as the concept should appeal to older web users as well. Like a news site, there will be different categories on the site that should appeal more specifically to each gender.
Outside of PR, the marketing for PulseSlider will be entirely online for the first year, so the logo should reflect that focus and be clean and web 2.0 friendly
We hope the logo can convey a number of different elements.
1) "pulse" - exciting, grab the pulse of the nation and win... potential visual of an excited “winner” icon
2) "slider" - the action of sliding with a potential visual of a slider-like icon, and possibly a hand icon with the finger sliding the slider
3) "this is a legitimate site" - Users are eventually going to be asked to put their credit cards into the site so the logo should not be an over-the-top game-like logo. It should convey 1 and 2 in a way that still comes across as trusted.
4) These are fun, casual, easy to learn and play games that a user can play in an instant. The logo should reflect this breezy, simple and fun environment (vs a hugely involving, complicated online game or story)
No "Medical or Health" imagery: we are not looking for a medical pulse graphic. We do not want users to be confused and think the site is a health site.
Desired Color Scheme: The colors for the logo are flexible, and could include any colors that appeal to both genders (blue, green, orange, red, yellow etc.). Pinks and purples or browns, blacks, and greys probably don't make sense as dominant colors.
Below is a link to a few crude concept logos that should give some sense for the logo direction.
Note: Please ignore the colors, fonts and specific graphics and use these only as guidelines for the general direction.
