Hey guys! Thanks for hanging in there. We have re-opened the contest because we didn't give you the best direction. Think Obama. Give it some social media edge, but not over the top. Have Tony Cardenas' name in all caps. Slogan should stand out but doesn't have to be in all caps. Do not embed the two together but make sure they fit together. Get creative. We are also looking for a symbol, sign, picture, or mark that represents giving a voice to a community or giving a family a voice in the community. Something that can go alongside his name and slogan, but that can stand alone too.
Red, white and blue is good but don't feel trapped with just those colors. Simplicity speaks louder than busy designs with too much. It should pop though. Should look more LA or San Francisco savvy than Texas old school. Don't make it too old school Star Spangled Banner.

Again, think Obama. Don't think of it as a logo for a politician, but a logo for a cool, progressive social media advocate that loves to help communities get involved.
