The Med-X Campaign
The Med-X Campaign promotes the medical use of ecstasy to treat mental health problems. Currently, over 300,000 US veterans are suffering from PTSD. According to the first clinical trial ever conducted, MDMA-assisted psychotherapy is three times more effective at reducing symptoms than current treatments. This is a really important issue for veterans and sufferers of trauma, so we have a good chance of generating buzz, making an important contribution to social change and improving the lives of millions of people.
Hello there! My name is Jason Roth and I'm self-starting a project named the Med-X Campaign. I'm a little nervous since I've never done something like this, but the purpose is to promote one tiny little change in public policy that will make a giant positive impact on society in the long-run.
In case you're wondering, I became interested in this issue while I was a pre-med student volunteering in the lab of UCSF professor Dr. John Mendelson (http://vimeo.com/15436997). I decided to use the next year and a half before starting grad school to work on this issue.
The first stage of this project is a splash page. People will come to the website, see the issue, and sign a petition of support.
I think my primary audience will be 20-somethings who are interested in changing the world. They don't like war but they like drugs.
I'd also like to partner with nonprofits that work with trauma, health professionals, veterans and veteran's groups, and women's groups.
My wildest goal would be to reach policy-makers like President Barack Obama :)
The Med-X Campaign logo will be appearing on a splash webpage. Your task is to combine two elements: MDMA, the drug known as ecstasy, with medicine. Focus on the pleasure of the cure rather than the pain of trauma. It should be catchy, comforting, and professional. The logo must aid the transformation of MDMA's reputation from a recreational drug into a government-approved prescription medication!
Whatever your design is, include the name: The Med-X Campaign
Please, exercise caution when using drug imagery!
NO psychedelic visuals or hippie-dippie style.
Colors I Like: Red, White, Blue
Themes: Healthcare, Veterans, Trauma,
One thought I had was to have the logo incorporate a cross.
See my mock site I made at medicinalmdma.com
Playing around with this idea, I made the Med Cross. I like that it combines a name of MDMA (X) with the Red Cross, but it also looks like a cancel button!

website: maps.org - MAPS is the premier nonprofit funding the research into MDMA therapy.
Also, there are a lot of decent illustrations in the attached MDMA History, you may find some inspiration there. Lastly, there is a journal article if you're curious about the science.
Thanks thanks thanks for your interest, looking forward to your designs :)
