Ypsilanti Charter Township is a local unit of government in southeastern Michigan USA. It has a population about 54,000 people contained within 32 square miles. There is a large 900-acre recreational lake - "Ford Lake" - that lies in the center of the township.
The Township provides essential services to its residents which include; police, fire, recycling, recreation, etc. The Ypsilanti Township Parks System consists of thirty (30) parks and recreation facilities totaling over 900 acres. The signature park is built around Ford Lake.
Ford Lake is a man-made lake named after Henry Ford who built a hydroelectric powerhouse in 1932 to supply electricity to a Ford Motor Company assembly plant. The lake was created from the Huron River as part of the powerhouse operation. The township owns and operates the powerhouse, which is still in operation today.
The Township is looking for a new branding logo to help promote economic development and to attract new business and new residents. It will be incorporated into a branding and marketing project being developed.
