Innovative Iphone menu needed for existing app

We have a iphone app design that works great but we need to add a menu to the top. We have been looking at one that etrade has in their iphone app that comes down from the top and then show icons allowing the user to scroll from side to side to get more icons. This is what we want but we cant figure out how to make it look awesome! and flawless in the current app design.

We are looking to have a contest to see some ideas and some new ways of looking at this design pattern to get ours looking as cool as etrade.

notes:
dont redesign our app, no time for that and not in scope
focus on the menu and not the icons
make it as useable and cool as possible
