LithuaniaVisits wishes to create a simple print ad to promote its family history, or genealogical, search services. The ad will appear in publications, mainly magazines, intended for Lithuanian-Americans in the US. Our goals are that the ad be simple, highly readable, and visually attractive. The mood we want to convey is that we are a competent, professional, reliable firm, but not overly stuffy. We provide suggested text for the ad.
Readers of Lithuanian-American publications in the US who have an interest in investigating their family history in Lithuania. This audience skews older, with 40 years old or so being the starting age.
For our typical client, some member of his or her family left Lithuania in one of Lithuanian great migrations (early 1900’s or before or after WW II) and started a new branch of the family in the US. The 50-year Soviet occupation generally prevented US family members from communicating with those remaining in Lithuania. In the last decade, following independence, there has been a renewed interest in finding out what happened to the family members who remained in Lithuania. We help clients trace their Lithuanian roots.
The printed version of the ad will typically be one of these sizes: 1/12 of a page (2.25 X 2.375); 1/4 of a page horizontal (4.6 X 3.6) or 1/3 of a page horizontal (4.625 X 4.875). In the final delivery we would like to receive a version in each of these sizes.
We would like the final product in a pdf format.
Because the ad will appear on a page with other ads, some type of border is appropriate.
The ad will only appear in black and white (with shading if included in the design). We do not want a color ad.
Again, our goals are: simple, highly readable, and visually attractive.
We want the text to be central. We do not want a separate graphic object to be the center of the ad.
A file is attached with suggested text.
A second file includes an ad that we have used in the past. We offer it only for its look and feel. We do not want it duplicated. We believe the diagonal line will not work well for the present ad.
The following is important: we prefer that the ad include a small graphical silhouette of the country of Lithuania. There is an example of a silhouette in the attached copy of the earlier ad. The silhouette is not an absolute requirement as we do not want to inhibit your creativity, but at this pre-design point, we find the silhouette attractive.
