CLEAR’s mission is to empower LGBTQ households, organizations, and communities with fair and equal access to LGBTQ-affirming financial education and services to meet under-served LGBTQ financial needs and help LGBTQ communities achieve their unique economic goals. CLEAR: 1. Empowers LGBTQ households, organizations, and communities through outreach, research, education and advocacy; 2. Conducts studies and research to assess and report upon economic well-being, pressures, needs and opportunities for LGBTQ communities; 3. Advocates for increased fairness, equality, inclusion and opportunity for LGBTQ persons and organizations in the economy; and 4. Creates awareness of, and access to, LGBTQ-competent and affirming financial education, services, strategies, and products to better serve under-served LGBTQ financial needs and help LGBTQ communities pursue and achieve their distinctive economic goals.

The idea for this design is an image for a campaign that will call the viewer to action to vote with their dollars by choosing to support their local LGBTQ businesses, nonprofits, and communities with their purchasing and local policy decisions. We are looking for a design that can be used for both stickers and apparel/other merchandise, and can be modified with relative ease to include some variable verbiage. The concept for the sticker(s)/merch is based around a simple slogan: "Keep ______ Queer" The ______ should be able to be replaced with any number of cities, neighborhoods, or "gayborhoods" to call attention to those LGBTQ communities that are struggling to maintain businesses and community spaces in those cities, and call the viewer to action to support those communities. I hope these stickers might be purchased and posted around those cities by locals. Some example cities and neighborhoods (though this not an exhaustive list) that would ideally be usable in the final design: San Francisco (SF), New York (NY), Boston (BOS), Chicago (CHI), Seattle (SEA), Los Angeles (LA), Castro, SOMA, The Village, Boystown, WeHo, Hell's Kitchen. So some example final verbiage for the sticker(s) would be, "Keep San Francisco Queer" / "Keep SF Queer", "Keep New York Queer" / "Keep NY Queer", "Keep Castro Queer", "Keep Boystown Queer" This slogan is, of course, similar to other slogans for other campaigns ("Keep Tahoe Blue"; "Keep Austin Weird"--see attached images) and is meant to evoke the impact that those campaigns have had in preserving local interests and culture. We hope similarly to these campaigns to inspire our viewers to act to preserve their local LGBTQ communities and their unique contributions to those cities and neighborhoods. It would be ideal if the design included our brand in some way--either through font use or color use (see attached brand guidelines for our colors and font)--but a simple, well-executed, aesthetically pleasing design that is bold and eye-catching for this campaign is the highest priority.
