** thank you everyone so far the designs have been great **
I've added some more detail here to help guide the process. this was my first contest here and I think by providing a bit more detail on the requirements, it will make it easier for all the entrants and myself to choose a winner.
Two pages: Home page and Search Results
Home Page should have a big search box, but still have room for other content. The designs for the search box should take up no more than 1/3rd of the page on 1024x768 browser. (see below as well from original description)
I'll need HTML/CSS for some sample "top content" areas as well .. for inspiration on this, go to digg.com and check out the right column "Top 10 in Technology"... this has all the basic elements minus the digg box which we don't need. the home page should be able to accomodate up to three of these boxes under the main search box
Search Results:
Should have the same search box OR A TIGHER ONE depending on the size of the search box from the home page. in other words, if the search area is very large on home page, then we'll need a more usable area for subsequent searching on the search results page.
The results page should be able to handle various types of media in this style/template -- do a search on the following for some ideas

http://blogsearch.google.com/blogse…arch+Blogs
http://www.technorati.com/

http://www.picsearch.com/
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
Think dogpile meets digg.
The design should allow for multiple search / aggregation channels.
Stock channels must include:
-Blogs
-Images
-Video
-Jobs
The homepage should have a nice big search box, and also room for top content from the various channels.
Also the following links:
- login / create account links
To be clear, you must deliver two pages
1) home page (that includes search)
2) search results page
if you can throw in some javascript/dhtml/ajax simulation stuff, you will get lots of props in this contest..
bring it on!
