I am young woman curator, writer and podcast-creator looking to showcase my portfolio of work (mostly on global women's issues) and strike out on my own as an independent consultant offering writing, research, podcast-creation and curatorial services. I have worked with and interviewed artists, advocates and activists around the world to create my work. Something that distinguishes my work is that it is both conceptually provocative and aesthetically moving - and I would like my website to reflect this.
I will market this website to my existing networks, which include individual women's rights and gender equality activists as well as local and international women's organizations and also journalists/media producers and employees at international foundations and UN agencies, most of whom will be women. Most of the people I am marketing to have fairly "institutional" looking websites and I don't want anything like this. One of the services I plan to offer is helping my target audience create and display their own research and content in more compelling ways, so I want my website to reflect this. As mentioned above, I am looking for a website that is both conceptually provocative and aesthetically moving.
I am looking for 2 pages of the website to be designed: the homepage and an internal page.
Both should have an international flavor and be elegant & visually driven, in the same way that many websites for photographers are designed.
Please feel free to experiment with colors and fonts but generally I like designs that are clean (not too busy), bold, elegant and visually striking.
The homepage should have a navigation bar, some visual treatment of my name (Masum Momaya), room for me to identify myself with a headline and a small paragraph, a box whose content will change (called "What's on my desk") and perhaps some images.
I also need an internal webpage designed that will serve as a template for multiple pages including an About Me page and a page that houses links to my portfolio of work, including online exhibitions, podcasts and written articles. I would like to have each portfolio item be represented by an iconic image in addition to some text and it would be great if the whole portfolio could look like something besides a long list of stuff.
Sorry there is no existing website - that's why I am here!
Here are the links to two online exhibitions I have curated:
Both can be used as inspiration and reference points for the type of design I am looking for.
I like the two sites above for their clean and dramatic effect and their use of images.
I like the visual treatment of names in the sites above and the use of color.
I am also attaching samples of the kinds of images I might use for the website.
