EDITOR.COM
We are launching a new online document editing and collaboration service at http://www.editor.com. We need a Web 2.0 inspired site design to represent the service, the key themes are Writing (word processing), Collaboration & Sharing. Sub-themes are easy-to-use, free & suitable for all users.
The trick with this project is making it unique and interesting while keeping it simple and obvious to use. It needs to be relevant to word processing / file editing / document collaboration so people stumbling across the page will instantly get it. It also needs to indicate cloud computing and "Software as a Service" so people get that it's an online service, not a download software product.
Target users is very broad & primarily consumers and SME audience. The service is design to be very simple to use so the design should represent that with a clean and simple style.
The page to be designed is the main front-page it should include: a short description section (3 paragraphs, each with a title - "Easy-to-use", "Collaborate & Share", "Free!"), and two main buttons: "Start a new document" & "Open an existing document".
We want people to try out the service so these buttons must be very clear.
The other sub-elements required on the page are:
- Sign Up/Sign In, My Account/Sign Out buttons or links.
- Links/menu to other main pages of the site: About, Help, Contact
- Footer copyright note and links to Terms of Service, Privacy Policy.
Additionally you need to supply a generic button design in .AI format that can be used for other action buttons on the site, i.e. "Save Document", "Edit Document".
Overall:
This website needs to quickly instill trust and professionalism while also having a soft consumer edge so people know it's going to be easy-to-use (& FREE).
There are many common themes you can pull in with "document editing" so please try and make something relevant (i.e. a user should be able to look just at the site and instantly know what the site is about).
Colors:
Please use the colors included in the attached logo as the base colors, please feel free to use complementary highlight colors so it's not bland.
