April Northrop Cole is a high school English teacher. She lives with her family in a house full of unfinished crafty projects, in Vero Beach, Florida.

Arianna Abernathy wants to be stoic and brave. Instead, she is exploited by her so-called friends and beleaguered by the glowingly popular arch-nemesis out to destroy her. Struggling to find her voice and be herself, she is so bored by it all she dreams a tornado will rip the roof off her school. But when she lands in a month-long detention sentence and is drawn into a secret friendship with the school’s most notorious social outcast, she begins to understand what it means to live a life that is true. As their connection deepens, he challenges her to make a choice–stay safe and live a lie or face her fears and grow into the person she always imagined she could be.

I know I want the blurb, possibly the author photo and the about, but only if it makes sense aesthetically.

The story images are storms, a path behind the school, and a small square table. I was thinking about storms above and on the sides (possibly an abstract swirly business) and a silhouette of her in windblown stance on top of a small table, or them sitting together, facing each other either in a field or at a small table. She has long dark hair (half Hispanic) He has shaggy anime hair and is always in a hoodie, but I'm not sure if I want them illustrated. I know I like bold typography. I'm not set on any specific idea. I'm a sucker for good character illustrations, but I'm not a fan of the scrappy retro sort of illustrated people on book covers these days. I have a book cover I've created myself but (I tried to attach, which cut off the top and bottom) but I am not a designer and didn't want to limit myself. Also, YA book covers these days tend to lean to the hand-drawn.

Just scrappy retro people and fancy script fonts. (Teenagers can't even read script anymore.)
