Process-wise. I always begin in pencil and paper, then I move to a raster program such as Procreate or Photoshop to do my sketching. I finally move into Adobe Illustrator to finish the graphic in vector format.")

I knocked out this illustration/beer label for the fine people at Sturgis Brewing Co. They wanted imagery of a highway sign and their brewery. I added some of the rolling hills surrounding the area and a little prairie dog sporting a vest with their mascot, skully.")

This is a beer label I knocked out for a collaboration between the Sturgis Brewing Co. and the Sturgis Mustang Rally. The Sturgis Mustang Rally takes place on Labor Day weekend and is the second largest event in Sturgis behind the world-famous Motorcycle Rally.

The Ford Mustang was named after the WW2 fighter plane, the P-51 Mustang. They gave me free rein on the artwork, only stating that “it should have a mustang in it”. They came up with the name at the end of the creative process. I went with the blocky stencil letters as a nod to the numbers stenciled on the fighter planes.

Kissing Santa - Holiday Spiced Lager
\"Kissing Santa\", named by the brewer, is a marzen style beer infused with cranberry. I used SBCo's Skully mascot to create a Santa themed illustration to decorate this seasonal release.")

Sturgis is located in South Dakota and the region is steeped in Native American and pioneer culture of the mid to late 1800s.
It seemed fitting to render SBCo's \" Skully\" mascot in rustic attire, I also added a wagon hauling some kegs of beer, and in the distant background I added a local landmark, Bear Butte.
\"The mountain is sacred to many American Indian tribes who come here to hold religious ceremonies. Artifacts dating back 10,000 years have been found near Bear Butte. In more recent times, however, the Cheyenne and Lakota people have maintained a spiritual tie to this mountain. Notable leaders including Red Cloud, Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull have all visited Bear Butte.\"
