I hunted for a casual font that seemed to have the right tone, and matched a pendant and a paint brush in color to represent both sides of the protagonist's life. The palette and string of beads then tied the elements together.
My process tends to start by drawing by hand, on paper, and then in Photoshop. With this sort of design, with clean lines, I usually render the final work in Illustrator, using the pen and pencil tools to sculpt the shapes to be more organic: the way I created them freehand.")
